Lodge #8 Brookings is made up of approximately 60 members from various agencies, consisting of the Brookings Police Department, Brookings County Sheriff's Office, SD Highway Patrol, and SDSU Police Department. We meet monthly for fun, fellowship, and to try to find ways to give back to the Brookings Area. Lodge #8 has an annual Game Feed every March, a Fishing Tourney, in May/June, and a Golf Tourney every August. For the past several years we have also been responsible for cleaning a section of I-29 by the Brookings Exit. Also, I can't forget the float we put together for the annual Parade of Lights. With the continued support of the good people of the State of South Dakota we have been fortunate enough to be able to return the gifts to various people and organizations.

* Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter
* Special Olympics
* Brookings Area After-Prom Parties
* Brookings Community Fireworks (Uncle Sam Jam)
* Halloween Safety (glo-sticks and safety talks)

This year Lodge #8 is going to try their athletic capabilities by sponsoring a Co-ed Softball Team. (I think we are going to need the first-aid kits and oxygen masks on stand-by for some of the guys!) Anyway, each year our lodge continues to grow...physically, fiscally, and mentally. Our long-term goal is to someday have a lodge (meeting place) to call our very own. A place where men and women of law enforcement can come together for meetings or just to relax. We will keep you posted!
