Lodge #6 Watertown was chartered on February 25, 1960 with 13 original members. Since that time Lodge #6 has grown and currently has 65 members. Its members include several law enforcement agencies: Watertown Police Department, Codington County Sheriff's Department, SD Highway Patrol, SD Game Fish and Parks Department, SD Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Hamlin County Sheriff's Department. Lodge #6 holds its monthly meetings in Watertown, SD to discuss lodge business.

This Lodge is very active within the community. For over twenty years members have been involved with the Watertown Fourth of July parade, by tossing candy and Frisbees to people along the parade route, and later working at the Watertown Stadium as the crowd awaits the arrival of fireworks. During Halloween, the Lodge has donated glow sticks to young trick-or-treaters to promote Halloween safety. Over the holiday season, they also hand out “food baskets” to people less fortunate in the community, consisting of gift certificates to be spent at a participating grocery store. Along with donating hundreds of dollars to various community activities, civic groups and individuals, FOP Lodge #6 provides a positive impact and represents the Fraternal Order of Police as a proactive community organization. Some of their yearly member activities include a Chili Feed, and a summer Corn Feed, where they have great retired participation. Members have an opportunity to bring their spouse or significant other, and children to these events.
